COURSE
Course Km Markers & Directional Arrows on Course?
*Half Marathon follow red directional arrows and red km markers on the course.
*15km follow blue directional arrows and blue km markers on the course.

*Matua Mile follow marshal instructions and a roped lane on the
Fergusson Park fields. There is no signage or km markers on the Matua Mile course.
The directional arrows (600mm x 600mm) are very large, so hard to miss.
The km marker signage is placed every 2-3km and is also large (400mm x 400mm).
Please treat all km markings as approximate – in most situations km markers are placed on the nearest lamppost to the true km mark.
Course Aid Stations and Toilets?
Specific details on the location and km mark of each aid station can be found on the respective Event Distances pages. R-Line electrolyte will feature on all aid stations (along with water). All event courses pass public toilet blocks along the route at regular intervals.

Not recommended. You need to be alert and able to hear our event marshals’ instructions, other participants and all traffic nearby.

VENUE
Arrival Time & Parking at Fergusson Park?
If you don’t collect your race number and transponder on Saturday you will need to be inside the Fergusson Park Clubrooms on Sunday at least 30 minutes prior to your event’s start time.
If you do collect your race number and transponder on Saturday you should still aim to be at the venue at least 20 minutes prior to your event’s start time.
Weather dependent, participants will be allowed to park on some large grassed areas inside Fergusson Park. Drive to the bottom of Tilby Drive for directions to access these areas. Once these areas are full, all remaining parking will be in the streets surrounding the park and you should plan for, and expect a short walk to Fergusson Park
Road Closures / No Parking Areas

Changing Rooms/Gear Storage?
The Fergusson Park Clubrooms have full changing rooms and showers.
Inside the Clubrooms, and up on the stage, is where you can leave your gear alongside the pre-race registration area.

Race Timing/Results Queries?
All entrants will be electronically timed and will receive an official race time on the event website. Transponders are picked up with race numbers at pre-race registration. The male and female winner of each event will be decided on gun times (the first across the line). All other results including age category winners will be decided on net times. Every entrant will be given a gun time and a net time in the race results. Age categories are: 0-14, 15-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70-99. All ages taken as at race day. If you have result queries please email through as much info as you possibly can to luke@eventday.co.nz. Your query will then be forwarded onto the event timing team to look at and in 95% of cases we will have a resolution for you within 24 hours.
Spot Prizes/Prizegiving/Medals?
Our Pay What You Want Tauranga Half Marathon sponsors will be awarding spot prizes to entrants at prizegiving. You have to be there to win! There are no finishers medals for the Pay What You Want Tauranga Half Marathon event and this is consistent with all previous versions of the event.
Runner or Walker?
If you are thinking of jogging or running AT ANY POINT in the event you do need to be entered in the run category. The walking category is only for those who have committed to walk the event from start to finish. Please ensure you are entered in the right category at pre-race registration. We will do our best to ensure all participants enter the correct category (run or walk) at pre-race registration. No event staff will be policing that each walk category participant will be strictly walking across the entire event course on the day as this is not an official sanctioned walk event. At the post-event prizegiving we will announce the provisional winners of the walk category based on the provisional results that we have at the time. Post-event, if you believe a particular participant needs to be amended from the walk to the run category, please email through all details to luke@eventday.co.nz and we will follow up with that participant. If the participant in question agrees that they should be amended, we will amend. If we have/obtain evidence (race photos, video, etc.) that suggests the participant should be amended from the walk category to the run category, then we will amend. Any decisions made by the event’s organising team are final.
